Give the gift of moments over things this holiday season

by Lucy on December 21, 2012

The holiday season can be exhausting, on the gift giving and receiving end. I’m sure many of us have been in at least one of these stressful situations:

  1. Spending hours trying to find the perfect gift for everyone on your list
  2. Spending heaps of money to pay for everything
  3. Receiving presents you don’t need or don’t like. Now what do you do with them?

This year, try something different for the holidays — share moments and experiences with friends and family rather than exchanging physical gifts.¬†Give a “One Less Gift” certificate, shown below, or consider pooling money together for a trip or other memorable experience. Read about Christine Hsu’s experience doing the latter on Life Edited here.

If your family has a long tradition of gift giving and the top two suggestions are not feasible, consider gifting an experience — a once-in-a-lifetime skydiving trip, a much-needed weekend getaway or gift certificate to a favourite restaurant. These gifts create meaningful moments and memories with the people you love.

From everyone at the Unstash team, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
