Living Lean

by unstash team on March 21, 2011

AppSumo is running a lean startup challenge and we’re putting in a last minute submission (because we were so busy running lean).

We’re a small team of six that have been slugging it away without getting paid a dollar to create a platform for peer to peer collaborative consumption. Our hope is to leverage online technology to enable people to share with one another real tangible things much more effectively.

We believe that helping people re-embrace simple acts of sharing will help combat hyper-consumerism, cultivate stronger communities, while creating a more sustainable planet.

We’re a lean startup in every way you can imagine. We’re currently running on volunteer sweat who believe in the vision, people who are giving up much needed rest and turning down job offers to make this happen.

On the tools end we’ve been using opensource software for much of our work. Google docs and dropbox have proven very helpful. Feature and bug tracking has been happening with pivotal tracker. We’re also making the most of free service tiers of Amazon EC2 as well as Heroku’s cloud platform. Appsumo’s Lean Startup Bundle we just purchased will also be extremely helpful.

At the moment, we could use more funding. We’ve been bootstrapping this venture from the beginning and have come to a point where at this next stage it’s time to accelerate the project and frankly get some bills paid.

Being ‘lean’ is not just a startup strategy, it’s a way of living better in a world of excess.

Join us and be a catalyst towards a more awesome human future. This will change things.

Great blog!

Did you buy 1 lean startup bundle with 2 to give away? (http://appsumo.com/lean/ – on the left hand side)

Hey Alan – Thanks – we actually found a way to get it for $30 bucks. I’m so cheap… i was hoping to score it for free off someone though.
